"Humility" from the Winter 2016 Vision Newsletter
When we are engaged in ministry, we have to keep both our humility before God and humility before our neighbor in mind as we lead and serve others with the gifts that God has given to us.
As a humble servant, we need to always be aware of who we are doing our work for: God. Keeping this as the forefront, we want to always follow His will in our ministries. In every situation, Jesus' teachings should always be applied.
When we serve in ministry without humility, we can become focused on how our efforts could give us an outcome that we want. However, while it is our responsibility to think about the future, develop plans, and implement them, no one can force God to give us the outcomes we want. He always decides what the outcome will be of our work and efforts.
When we allow God to be at the forefront of our ministry, this also allows us to be humble before our neighbor. In a leadership or ministerial position, we never want to think that our outer authority gives us permission to abuse our position by imposing our own opinion or by implying that if our instruction is not obeyed, that there will be eternal consequences. We want to be careful to not attach too much importance to our title because it can lead to a breakdown of the trust between us and the people we interact with in our ministries. We want to always be humble before those around us and be open to the Spirit's guidance in our ministry.

Cuando participamos en un ministerio, tenemos que tener en mente tanto nuestra humildad ante Dios, como la humildad ante nuestro prójimo a medida que guiamos y servimos a los demás con los dones que Dios nos ha dado.
Como un siervo humilde, necesitamos estar siempre conscientes de para quién estamos haciendo nuestro trabajo: Dios. Teniendo esto en el frente, queremos seguir siempre Su voluntad en nuestros ministerios. En cada situación, las enseñanzas de Jesús deberían ser aplicadas siempre.
Cuando servimos en el ministerio sin humildad, podemos llegar a centrarnos en cómo nuestros esfuerzos nos podrían dar el resultado que deseamos. Sin embargo, aunque es nuestra responsabilidad pensar acerca del futuro, desarrollar planes e implementarlos, nadie puede forzar a Dios a que nos dé el resultado que deseamos. Él siempre decide cuál será el resultado de nuestro trabajo y esfuerzos.
Cuando permitimos que Dios esté en el frente de nuestro ministerio, esto también nos permite ser humildes ante nuestro prójimo. En una posición ministerial o de liderazgo, no queremos pensar nunca que nuestra autoridad exterior nos da permiso de abusar de nuestra posición al imponer nuestra opinión o al suponer que, si nuestra instrucción no es obedecida, habrá consecuencias eternas. Queremos tener cuidado de no darle demasiada importancia a nuestro título, porque puede conducir a una ruptura de confianza entre nosotros y las personas con las que interactuamos en nuestros ministerios. Queremos ser siempre humildes ante los que nos rodean y estar abiertos a la guía del Espíritu en nuestro ministerio.
