The decision to make the Confirmation vow and to receive the Confirmation blessing is a very important milestone in a youth’s journey of faith. When making this decision, age, maturity level, and understanding of faith, need to be considered. Because of this, there is flexibility as to when a youth can make their Confirmation vow.
In the New Apostolic Church USA, all youth who have regularly attended the Youth THRIVE Small Group discussions are eligible to make their Confirmation vow in the spring of their 10th or 11th grade academic year. The youth leader and/or rector should initiate a conversation with the youth and their parent/guardian, in which the youth verbalizes their intent to pursue Confirmation. This conversation should be planned in advance so all involved, feel prepared to have the discussion. The conversation should take place in the fall of the student’s 10th and/or 11th grade year. A document has been prepared to help guide this conversation.
Those youth who decide to pursue Confirmation will begin a preparation process called Road to Confirmation. This process includes the youth completing self-paced online courses to emphasize core doctrinal understandings, as well as engaging in checkpoint conversations with the rector, youth leader, and parent in the months leading up to Confirmation Sunday. The purpose of the Road to Confirmation process is to ensure a youth is well equipped and prepared to make their Confirmation vow.
For a student to be confirmed in Spring 2026, they must be enrolled in the Road to Confirmation. Rectors or youth leaders should complete an enrollment form for all youth who have responded YES to beginning the Road to Confirmation journey and have chosen to be confirmed in Spring 2026.

We encourage scheduling the Initial Conversation as early as possible. This gives students more time to complete the online courses and allows parents/guardians more time to become familiar with the Checkpoint Conversation material.
All enrolled youth and their support team are invited to a Road to Confirmation informational webinar on November 18, 2025, OR November 20, 2025.
